The Hayseed Homestead is unlocked after the Ranch has been restored, Marty Emerson has moved to town, and the Coop has been fixed up on Tara's farm. This is the only source of farm animals and feed for your animals (until the Hay Field is upgraded, though chicken feed still needs to come from here).
Marty will also buy back animals, offering higher prices for happier animals, offering a slightly lower profit than Kim's Local Butcher and Deli for chickens and slightly higher for cows and sheep -- unlike Kim, however, Marty will also buy back animals before they've fully matured.
