Angus Seton (28) is Fairhaven's baker and Francis's fiancé.
His puns are as bad as his cakes are delicious, and he radiates sunny positivity, except when he worries about his relationship with Francis. Ultimately, though, he can't wait to get married.
He joined Cameron's Consciousness Center, which he sees as a place of solace and strength.
Angus sees witchcraft as a threat, and sightings of cloaked people at night have made him fearful and protective.
Life Before Fairhaven
Angus is the middle of three brothers, which sometimes made him feel overlooked.

New Acquaintances (expand)
- How to initiate cutscene: After gaining one full heart, visit Angus at Bakery.
- Dialogue:
Tara: Oooh, baking something new, Angus?
Angus: Yep! It’s my little bro’s favorite! I’m the middle child of three boys, so it was nonstop chaos growing up. But I could always get Jamie to calm down if I gave him one of these! You don’t have any siblings, do you? That must have been a bit lonely growing up, no?
--[Choice: Sometimes]
-
--[Choice: Not really]
-Tara: Not when I was little, because I spent my summers here and grew close to my grandma and grandpa.
-Angus: Well, of course. Having a grandma like Hazel must have been so much fun!
--[Choice: Yes]
-Tara: It was. I want to have a big family of my own someday.
-Angus: Hey, big families have their downsides too, believe me!
Angus: Francis and I are both the middle child of three-child families. Maybe that’s why we’re perfect for each other – we’re used to being the overlooked cheese in the sandwich! I hope Francis is able to find a place for himself here and that everyone sees just how special he truly is.
Casual Friend (expand)
- How to initiate cutscene: After gaining two full hearts, visit League of the Conscious Mind on a Sunday.
- Dialogue:
Angus: Hi Tara! Good to see you here! Do you come often?
Tara: Um… not really!
Angus: That’s okay! Everyone has to walk the path at their own pace, as Messenger Cameron says! I grew up going to Mass, so it took me a while to feel comfortable here knowing my parents wouldn’t approve. And Francis’s snarky remarks don’t help.
--[Choice: He should respect you]
-Tara: Well, hopefully Francis will learn to respect your beliefs even if he doesn’t share them.
-Angus: I hope so. It’s not like he’s against this specific set of beliefs, it’s more like religion in general? I think it has to do with his family, but I don’t pry because he shuts down when I ask about it.
--[Choice: Don’t worry about it]
-Tara: Hey, you're entitled to your beliefs. Don't worry about what others think.
-Angus: Don't worry about what others think? Hello, have you even met me? I can't help it! But you're right. I shouldn't care so much.
--[Choice: It is unusual]
-Tara: They'll come around, but I can see why your family and Francis might find the League a bit unusual.
-Angus: It definitely is new! But they shouldn't be so quick to judge before they've even given it a chance! I think the Book of the Mind can really help people.
Angus: Look, I feel real acceptance here. Like I can be in charge of my own destiny, you know? It’s about hope.
Good Friend (expand)
- How to initiate cutscene: After gaining three full hearts, visit flower shop on Wednesday.
Note: this must be completed before Angus and Francis get married.
- Dialogue:
Violet: Unfortunately, Angus, my local supplier is all out of peonies right now. I could get them from the hothouse importer, but they’ll be really expensive. What about roses?
Angus: Oh no, Francis only wants peonies for the ceremony! I prefer roses, to be honest. They smell good! But Francis will find them too pedestrian. What do you think, Tara?
--[Choice: Get the roses]
-Tara: Just get the roses, Angus! They're classic! Francis does have good taste, but it's your wedding too!
-Angus: You're right! The wedding should be a reflection of both of us! We're getting the roses!
--[Choice: Get wildflowers]
-Tara: What about wildflowers? They would be the cheapest option, and they’re definitely not typical.
-Angus: I love it! A local, authentic touch! Francis can’t argue with that!
--[Choice: Get the peonies]
-Tara: I think you should give Francis what he wants. He does have really good taste.
-Angus: I know he does... but sometimes the rest of us would like to have an opinion, you know?
Violet: Okay! I’ll get you an estimate soon! It’s going to look so romantic!
Angus: Yay! I’m getting so excited I just can’t wait to get married already! Thanks for your imput, Tara!
Best Friend (expand)
- How to initiate cutscene: After gaining four full hearts, visit Angus at Bakery.
- Dialogue:
Angus: Oh. Hey there, Tara. Don’t mind me, I’m just bumming a bit today. My baby brother was supposed to visit but he got slammed with work and couldn’t come. It’s probably for the best.
Tara: Why would you say that? I know how close you guys are.
Angus: Yeah, but it doesn’t really feel safe here. Otto says people wearing cloaks are going into the woods at night. I don’t know what they’re up to, but it can’t be anything good.
--[Choice: The town is just quirky]
-
--[Choice: We shouldn’t judge them]
-Tara: Whomever the people in the woods are, they might not mean any harm! We shouldn't rush to judge them anymore than you would want to be judged for your beliefs.
-Angus: I guess that's a fair point. But you have no idea how dangerous witches can be, Tara. It's not all superstition. They hurt people.
--[Choice: I haven’t seen anything]
-Tara: I don’t know, I haven’t seen anything all that strange.
-Angus: You can’t be serious. You’ve never seen the people in cloaks?
Angus: I’m not the only one who thinks something is wrong, Tara. Thing is, I’ve always felt really protective of Jamie. So long as he’s safe, that’s all that matters to me.
Tara: You’re safe too, Angus. This is a safe place.
Conversations[]
The following is a list of quotes and conversations the player can have with Angus Seton throughout the game outside of quests.
Spring Year 1
---
Angus: Yes, I am that Angus. Tara: Excuse me? Angus: I could tell you were wondering if you recognized me. I am indeed the Angus who was on an episode of Baking Battles! Always nice to meet a fan. Tara: Oh… yes. I thought that was you. What with this being a bakery and all. Angus: Haha, yeah. I guess it's obvious. My little claim to fame!
Angus: If you ever have extra baked goods to sell, let me know. I'm always happy to "mix" things up for my customers!
Angus: Have you met my boo yet? His shop is right next door. Tara: That's so nice. You must never get sick of each other to live and work so close together! Angus: Haha, nope! Why, did he say something like that? I mean, Francis does like his quiet time…
Angus: Watch out for Sophia. She likes to play matchmaker, and you're too cute to resist setting up. Tara: Wait, how did you know I was single? Angus: Oh, honey, it's a small town.
Tara: Wait, so has Sophia actually ever been successful at making a match? Angus: Why, are you interested in her services? Oh, she'll be loaf to resist! Tara: Angus, seriously. Has she? Angus: Nope, not even… not even once. Tara: Great.
Angus: Oh, you know who's single? Messenger Cameron! He's the greatest guy. Well, Francis isn't a fan, but he's probably a wee bit jealous because I ramble on about the Consciousness Center all the time. And then I'm like, Francis, Cameron doesn't even play for our team. You don't have to be so catty about the League. And then he gets mad 'cuz I said he was bein' catty.
Angus: So the other day I asked Kim if I could buy a couple pints of pigs' blood… Tara: For… what? Do I even want to know? Angus: To make my Seton family blood pudding recipe, of course! But they got all grossed out. What kind of butcher gets grossed out on blood? Tara: Maybe it's not so much the blood as the cooking it into a pudding. On purpose. Angus: Hey! Don't knock it 'til you try it! Anyway, they didn't have any to sell me since there's no ranch here anymore.
Angus: Sometimes Francis invites me to join him for a romantic beach stroll when he goes searching for pearls. But just look at me! I don't tan, I burn. Painfully.
Angus: Francis gets a bit restless sometimes and wants to take the ferry over to Milkwater for some "culture." He says the only culture I care about is my sourdough starter.
Angus: I'm so glad Kai is on the island, even if the bouncy perfection atop his head makes me want to weep with envy. Still, I couldn't source cinnamon for my cinnamon rolls without him!
Angus: I know you've got a lot on your plate, caring for your grandma and all. But don't forget to take some time to decompress. Damon's bar is a great place to unwind at the end of a long day. And his whiskey's not half bad. It… well, it's not half good, either, but needs must, as my grandpa used to say.
Angus: Hey, Natalia said you fixed up that broken mine entrance! You're a real whisk-taker! Tara: Oh, Angus.
Angus: Hey. I heard Hazel's not feeling well. Tell her Francis and I are thinking of her, won't you? Tara: Of course. Thanks, Angus.
Tara: Whatcha doin', Angus? Angus: Thinkin' up a new viral baked good. Something that people would be willing to queue for hours to get so they could post it on 'the social medias.' You know, like those croissants that have doughnut filling? What about, like, a half bagel, half cupcake? A bupcake! No, that won't work...
Angus: Tara, I thought I saw Vanessa go by on her way to your house with a tray. Tara: Oh yes, she paid Gramma a visit. Angus: Thought so. Here. [Gives 3x Chocolate Cupcake.] Tara: Angus, you don't have to do that! Angus: Oh yes, I do. Even the sick have standards. Vanessa doesn't believe in putting butter in her baked goods. I think that says it all.
Angus: Ugh. Tara: What's wrong, Angus? Angus: My older brother just sent an announcement. He and his wife are expecting again. In the Fall. Tara: Congrats! Isn't that great news, Uncle Angus? Angus: No. That kid better keep bakin' til after our wedding. Knowin' my luck, he'll be born the day before and none of my family will come.
Angus: Remember to eat! Ideally, something delicious!
Angus: I love foraging in the Spring. But the woods here creep me out, to be honest.
Angus: Baked goods can cure any broken heart. All you knead is love! Get it?
Angus: Pounding dough is great stress relief! Whenever Francis and I get in a fight, I sell a lot of loaves the next day!
Angus: What is it like living in all that open space? Tara: To tell you the truth, it's a lot of work! Angus: Well, what a great way to work off delicious baked goods!
Summer Year 1
---
Angus: Hazel was a special lady, and one heck of a good baker. I'm going to miss her. She would have wanted me to make sure you're well fed. Here, try some of this. [Gives 2x Corn Bread.] Tara: Thanks, Angus.
Angus: During Summer, my brother Jamie likes to wear kilts made out of the Seton tartan. Says it gives him better “ventilation.” Francis said I'd look distinguished in a kilt. But I'll just stick with my jeans.
Angus: It's great that Thomas is helping out with the Summer Festival snacks this year! He usually grumbles any time someone brings up the Summer Festival. I wonder what made him change his mind?
Angus: I thought a new rancher would be busy, but Marty sure seems to have time to spare. He hangs out in front of my croissant display and snaps so many photos. Says they do well on social. I can't argue with that!
Angus: I wish it weren't such a pain, getting to Fairhaven. I'd have my brothers visit all the time. Maybe I could get Francis' brother to visit, too. They could patch things up. I still don't know why Francis and Fabio don't talk, to be honest.
Tara: I'll never stop being impressed, Angus. You move around the kitchen like you're part of it. Angus: Aww, thanks, Tara! It took me a long time to feel so comfortable here. I studied accounting in college. But I only worked as a CPA for a year before I had to stop or lose my mind.
Angus: Wanna know a secret? Tara: Do I ever! Angus: The number one mistake that beginning bakers make is fudging their measurements. A tablespoon of peppermint extract is super different than a teaspoon. And don't ever "estimate" a cup of sugar! You'll always oversweeten!
Angus: I keep telling myself I'm not going to stop by Emmi and Finn's lemonade stand again, but I always do. When it's so hot out, there's nothing better than citrus and sugar. Ooh, maybe I'll go bake some lemon tarts…
Angus: Sometimes, working next to Francis is frustrating. But then I see him through the window, and I'm like, "Who is that dashing man with the loupe? Oh, yeah! My fiance!"
Angus: Messenger Cameron tells us not to eat too many carbs. It's bad for our concentration. But he still buys pastries from me all the time! He's so supportive. Tara: Or he has a sweet tooth. Angus: Hey, why can't it be both?
Angus: Parker's been bringing the twins to the Consciousness Center since they're not in school And man, they're cute. But they're affirming my belief that I don't really want kids.
Angus: I can't believe Giva's living up in the mountain pass by herself! I'd be scared silly. But then, it's not hard to scare me silly. Francis and I tried watching classic horror movies on date night once. I grabbed his hand so hard I left nail marks.
Angus: Some days, I freak out about following Francis to Fairhaven. Like, was it a bad life decision? But then there are days like today. I can leave the door open, listen to the rain, and wait for my dough to proof. And I'm like, "This is perfect."
Tara: Wow, Angus, that really is a huge strawberry shortcake! Angus: Thanks! You get extra since you helped! Although… Cameron has been telling us that we really shouldn't celebrate the Summer Festival, since it's a folk tradition. He says old superstitions block our way to the Summit. Maybe this will be my last year...
Angus: I agree with Messenger Cameron about most stuff, but isn't the Summer Festival harmless? The old stories mentioned fairies, sure, but everyone knows there aren't actually any fairies. Tara: Yep. Everyone sure does know that.
Angus: Summer will be over soon, so I'm trying to use up my berry supply before they're out of season. Berry tarts, berry puddings, berry cobblers, berry pancakes… I'll make enough for all of us to eat, drink, and be berry.
Angus: Summer heat and a hot oven means my bakery is basically the surface of the sun right now. When is this summer ever gonna end?
Angus: Bread, buns or a souffle? What are you craving today? Tara: Well- Angus: Or perhaps you've got deliciousness to sell to me? Tara: Nope, just thought I'd stop by and say hi… Angus: Well, that's sweet, too. Haha, little baker pun there. Tara: Uh huh.
Angus: My older brother is the successful one in the family. But hey, I'm the one rolling in the dough! Ha!
Angus: I've never heard of a building here getting broken into. And what did the thieves even want from the Consciousness Center? Francis keeps telling me not to worry, but I'm sleeping with my heaviest frying pan next to our bed. Just in case.
Fall Year 1
---
Tara: You look excited! What's the occasion? Angus: Nothing in particular - I'm just excited that it's Fall! There's no better weather for sneaking still-warm cookies right off the baking sheet.
Angus: Messenger Cameron's pushing hard for Francis and me to have our wedding at the Consciousness Center. But Francis isn't gonna go for it. He says he's always wanted to get married in nature. And as much as I hate those woods… they do look like a fairy tale in the right light.
Angus: I keep pinching myself. I still can't believe I'm getting married! I always had a hard time telling guys I was interested, so I didn't have that many boyfriends before Francis. Luckily, Francis is pretty good at asking for what he wants…
Angus: Otto asked me if I'd volunteer for his campaign, but I just don't have time. I can't let Francis plan this whole wedding on his own! Besides… this way, I can avoid awkward conversations with anyone volunteering for Marty.
Angus: I just had the best idea! What if I use mango filling for our wedding cake? It's unconventional, but Francis loves mango! Tara: Aww, Angus. I think he'll love that. Angus: He worries so much. I just want him to be happy!
Angus: The nerve of that freakin' kid! Tara: What did Finn do this time? Or was it Emmi? Angus: Oh, no, it was Malcolm. Malcolm Seton. My new nephew. He had the audacity to be born today! Right before my wedding. And my family can't make the trip out here with a newborn in tow. Tara: I'm really sorry, Angus. Are you gonna be okay? Angus: Yeah. Maybe it's better this way. My brother and sister-in-law already have two toddlers, and their new thing is yelling "NO" at seemingly random intervals.
Angus: Kim offered to help me with wedding prep. Aren't they the best? I think they understand that there's… a lot at cake here. Tara: Angus. Angus: I won't apologize! I'm not sorry!
Angus: I love my new cufflinks! My boo told me that you had a hand in helping make them! Francis has such sophisticated taste, doesn't he? Myself included I guess, haha!
Angus: We're married! I can't believe it! I'm Mr. Angus Seton-Calderon! Francis couldn't believe that I sourced real island mangoes for the cake filling! Thanks so much for helping me keep it a surprise, Tara!
Angus: Did you see the portrait Parker gave us as a wedding present? When we first moved here, Francis would bring me bunches of turtleheads he picked out while walking. Parker is the sweetest guy for remembering that…
Tara: Feeling some relief from the Summer heat, Angus? Angus: Yes! I can finally stand to… well, stand in front of my oven again!
Angus: Oh, I'm glad the election's over with. Now I won't have to deal with Francis asking me to join the Marty Party. Besides, dad puns are my thing!
Angus: Malcontents and witches are the same thing! I can't believe I never made that connection before! Tara: So you believe in witches, then? Angus: Yeah, and they're really, really dangerous. Be careful, Tara.
Tara: What's wrong? You look like you're about to be sick. Angus: That's how I feel! Sophia is such a sweet lady… … so the idea that she's a witch is really messing me up.
Angus: Yesterday, I forgot to put eggs in my cake batter. It's a rookie mistake. I just can't stop thinking about the people in the woods. Are they all witches? Are they all my neighbors?
Angus: So I heard you're seein' Amira, eh? Don't keep that one on the hook too long. Eventually ya gotta put the fish in the boat! (if dating Amira)
Angus: If Sophia's not the Malcontent, then who is? Is it you? Are you the Malcontent?! Tara: Me?! Angus: Sorry. I'm just on edge.
Angus: If Sophia isn't the witch, then who is? Augh! This is almost worse!
Angus: Do you think Juliet is doing okay? Tara: I think she's having a really rough time, to tell you the truth. Angus: Man. That sucks. Whatever Sophia is or isn't, it's not Juliet's fault.
Angus: Hey, has anyone checked in on Shelby lately? Tara: I didn't know you were concerned about Shelby's welfare. Angus: Well, it's more that… he lives alone in the woods, and what with things the way they are- Tara: C'mon, leave him out of this… Angus: It's just that Shelby is a little sketchy! We all know it! I'm trying to be careful. That's all.
Angus: Geez. Things are so tense around here. Maybe Francis and I should've gone on a honeymoon after all. But money's tight, so we could afford, like, a few nights in a Milkwater motel and that's it.
Winter Year 1
---
Angus: It's sweet potato season! Time to make sweet potato dumplings, sweet potato cookies… and sweet potato pie. It may seem simple, but the classics are a real hit at the Winter Feast.
Tara: Brrr, it's so cold out! Angus: Why not try a loaf fresh and hot out of the oven? That'll make you feel toasty! Hehe!
Angus: I'm glad we're carrying on with the Winter Feast. It will help take our minds off the ugliness of that trial. Tara: Well, except for Sophia won't be there this year. Angus: You sound like Francis. He thinks we've all gone off the deep end.
Angus: Hey, heard you helped out with the new charity initiative at the Consciousness Center! Thanks for supporting the League, Tara! Tara: Well, I wasn't really supporting the League, I was just helping out our neighbors… Angus: Well that's the same thing! I was thinking of cooking up a batch of cock-a-leekie soup as my contribution.
Angus: My whole life, I've felt like the victim of a witch. Well, I'm not going to be a victim anymore. Sorry not sorry.
Angus: I love any excuse for fireside snuggles with Francis, but I'm worried. What if a Malcontent tried to sabotage the ferry?
Angus: The ferry breaking down feels ominous. But Messenger Cameron says we shouldn't let it bring us down, that's just what the Malcontents want. Tara: What do Malcontents have to do with the ferry? Angus: See, that's exactly the right question to be asking right now.
Angus: Francis has been fluttering around me like a mother hen lately. But there's nothing wrong with me. I'm fine. Finey fine fine.
Angus: Don't forget to try my sweet potato casserole! Sweet potatoes are like if regular potatoes went out and had a bunch of life experiences. They're just way more interesting. Don't tell my Polish ancestors I said that. Tara: It would be weird if I could.
Angus: Sebastián asked my why my sweet potato casserole didn't have any marshmallows on it. But it did, I swear! I just turned my back to get some napkins, and when I turned around again… It was like someone had taken a spoon and just skimmed all the marshmallows off the top! What kind of person would do something like that? And how did I not see them? Tara: Hmmm. I have no idea.
Tara: How's it going, Angus? Angus: I feel great! Never better, actually. I feel like I'm finally taking control of my life! You should try one of my delicious treats. I'm on fire today!
Tara: Hey Angus… how ya doin'? Angus: It's just like Messenger Cameron said it would be. Like walking through a fog, then suddenly, a moment of clarity! It's so obvious Marty was a witch all along! Tara: Is it really? Angus: Seriously, Tara, you think I can't tell someone's a witch if they're standing right in front of me? Tara: Erm... good point.
Angus: Natalia came by the other day and asked me to reconsider what I said about Marty. She said it can be dangerous to just throw accusations around. She's embarrassed that she got it wrong, I get it. But I'm right this time. I'm certain of it.
Angus: I don't mind the snow, but Francis hates being cold. Which means I just get more couch snuggles! I know he's just using me for my body heat, but I don't mind.
Angus: The night comes early in Winter, and you really don't want to get caught in the woods after dark. Just thinking about it gives me the creeps.
Angus: Don't you love Winter? I've already got the currants for my plum pudding soaking - a secret Seton family recipe!
Angus: I thought I knew what I saw. Now I just don't know what to believe. I feel terrible. I mean, Marty may be a heartless, money-grubbing vulture capitalist, but at least he's not a witch. Tara: Hey! Angus: What? Tara: Oh, nothing.
Angus: Francis has been out late a lot. I went by the pub the other night, but he wasn't there. He said something about taking a moonlight walk on the beach to clear his thoughts. But the wind coming off the ocean is freezing right now! He would never do that. I think he's just avoiding me. He's been acting jumpy ever since Marty's trial.
Angus: I think Francis is worried that I'm going to accuse him next. But that's just foolish. Just because his brother is a witch doesn't mean that he is! I'm the last person who would judge someone because of their family! I thought he'd know that by now.
Angus: Parker says he saw Giva up to something suspicious. And why shouldn't we believe him? Who knows what she's up to all alone in that mountain pass. Tara: Scientific research? Angus: Huh. It's a good cover story, that's for sure.
Angus: Messenger Cameron says we should let go of old, superstitious traditions. But I really like decorating a tree every Winter! Ugh, maybe I'm not cut out for climbing the Mountain of Consciousness.
Angus: I have no idea what present to get Francis this year. Maybe I'll go see if Kai has anything new in his stall.
Epilogue
---
Angus: So… I guess… this is awkward. Tara: It doesn't have to be. Angus: Oh, Tara, I'm so sorry! I've just - had a bad time with witches. Like, really, really bad. Geez, this is all so much. My brain feels like an oven with too many trays inside.
Tara: So how are things with you and Francis…? Angus: We both have a lot of adjusting to do. But you know what? Before you helped me, Francis was the only one who made me feel safe. So he could turn out to be a pile of hedgehogs in a trench coat and I'd still love him.
Angus: Now that it's Spring again and things are going back to normal, my creative juices have been flowing, too! You know how I was trying to find the right viral pastry combination last Spring? Well, I think I have it! Macadoodles! They're Snickerdoodles made out of macaron halves! Tara: Yeah... why don't you workshop that?
Angus: My brother won't stop sending me pics of baby Malcolm. Ugh! Although... He is kind of cute. I guess Francis and I will have to have a do-over ceremony and invite everyone. Even my baby nieces and nephews.
Angus: The Book of the Mind says we should all meditate regularly. But see, I could never really meditate before. I was always afraid the ghost would come for me. No matter what I was doing, a tiny part of me was alert. Watching. And now… that part of me can chill out for once. So I can meditate! And get a good night's sleep! And maybe even watch a scary movie! Tara: Woah now. Let's not get ahead of ourselves.
